Ocean Voice Radio: illegal radio network in Taiwan

Ocean Voice Radio radio based in Taichung transmits from six locations without a license.

The Voice of Ocean Taiwan radio station, 95.9 FM in Taichung, is located on an upper floor of a downtown office building. Looking very much like any other radio station, with studios, conference room and offices, Ocean Voice is different in a special way.

Ocean Voice radio is a bastion of democracy under a repressive, exiled foreign government and has been forced to operate without a license for 15 years. The illegal broadcasts are beamed around northern Taiwan with six transmitters and have developed a large following of listeners.
